*The Sparkling Diamond*

You are standing before a beautiful architectural structure.  Looking up to the sky there is 1,063 feet of iron and about 120 years of history.  It is 9:59 p.m. and all of the sudden…sparkles.  Hundreds of little flashing lights look like a big sparkling diamond.  There is only one place in the world you can be…the Eiffel Tower.  http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/teiffel/uk/

Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower

This is something anyone can experience upon traveling to Paris, France to see the beautiful Eiffel Tower.   When it is dark out, every hour on the hour, the tower is lit up with hundreds of lights.  Not only is it breath taking, but it stops you right in your tracks.  While experiencing this, I could not even manage to move.  My friends and I didn’t know it did this and when we saw it, the corney tourists that we are all held hands and made a wish!  Hahaha…silly tourists.

But seriously,  I really think the Eiffel Tower should be on everyones list of things to see before they die.  It is really an amazing experience to see and go up into the tower.  For only 12 euro, we were able to go up into the tower and stay as long as we wanted on the observation deks (there are two of them) and the gift shop.

If you have the money and the time, please go to Paris.

  1. That’s such a beautiful picture of th Eiffel tower! Its really interesting that I came across this entry today, because last night at work we were playing a game of questions, and the last one was “If you died suddenly tomorrow, what on thing would you regret” and mine was traveling. Someone said they wanted to see the pyramids and I was saying how, among other things, I really wanted to see the Eiffel tower! I never knew that the tower was lit up with likes like that! How much does 12 euro equal out to?

  2. I’m planning a backpacking trip to France and Italy this summer for about a month…I think that were going to do most of our traveling on the train..Do you have any suggestions as far hostels are concerned? I think I want to spend a week in France alone…(Is that too long?) Great blog!

  3. Well, I have never been to Paris or any other Country outside the U.S. really besides Canada. But, I do love to travel and I have been all over in the U.S. I am about to graduate and I do plan to begin traveling outside the country. I really want to go to Italy, Australia, Africa, and somewhere in South America. Those are my first four choices of where I want to go the most. I am very jealous that you have been to all of these places and I can not wait to go experience some other cultures and lifestyles.

  4. I never made it to any place really outside Ireland and the other UK countries.. Paris looks soo beautiful.. even Ryanair was a an expense I could not make so I did not get to go when a group of the girls in the study abroad program went. It must be sooo sick there! I love Europe and I can’t wait to eventually making back!!

  6. I have actually gotten to experince the Eiffel Tower light up. I even had diner there. I went when I was a junior in high school. It truly was an amazing experince. It was so funny, becasue for dinner we all thought we were eating chicken, but it was pigeon. It was good until we found out what it was. It was amazing to experince other cultures. That is so cool that you went to all those places. I really want to go to Italy someday and back to France.

  7. I went on a two week trip to Europe when I was in high school and the sparkling Eiffel Tower was one thing I got to see while in France. I didn’t know to expect the tower to do that either, so I had a similar touristy reaction. I’m not one to act like a tourist, I like to go places and blend in with the natives, but I’ll admit to taking about 15 plus pictures of the Eiffel Tower, and taking lots of pictures from the observation decks, even though it’s so high up the pictures barely look like anything.

  8. Kaeleigh- I def think its a good goal to have in mind to go and see. When I went, 12 Euro came to about $18 but believe me its totally worth it. I am not being corney, I am serious when I say its breathtaking!

  9. Casey: You are going to have a blast!!!! I would say that a week in france is not too long. One thing I regret not doing is going to the Cabaret. I didn’t go cause it was really expensive, but my friend said it was awesome. I am sorry but I don’t remember what hotel we stayed in, I think it was a chain. lol Thanks for your input! : )

  10. Joe: THose are some really cool places you have in mind, but I would have to say I am a bit partial….I would def go to Italy!!! I went to Florence, Venice and Rome. I loved all three. Have fuN!

  11. Megan: I am with you on that I want to go back. I wish I could have went to Ireland. That must have been a lot of fun. My friend’s dad lives in DUblin, so maybe I will make it there someday!
